What Birdseed Do Birds Like Best?

This science research article is to find out which birdseed, the birds like best. I also wanted to find out if the weather or temperatures affected birds eating habits.
To begin my research I took three 20oz empty soda bottles and washed them out and let them dry. Then I filled each bottle with a different kind of birdseed. The birdseed I used was mixed birdseed, unshelled sunflower seeds and shelled sunflower seeds. The bird feeders were put in different locations but still close together. Next, I checked each bird feeder daily and marked each bottle and dated where they had eaten. I recorded this information in a daily journal along with the temperature and weather conditions for the day. When the first week was over I repeated this process for another week.
When all the birdseed was finished, I took all the bottles to analyze the data. First, I measured a 20oz bottle and came up with nine inches in length. I used inches to measure how much seed was eaten daily. Next, I measured each days amounts and recorded this information on a graph. I also made a date and temperature graph.
From my research I learned that the mixed birdseed was the favorite because it was eaten faster then the other birdseed. The second favorite was the shelled sunflower seeds. The least favorite was the unshelled sunflower seeds, this was eaten in smaller amounts until this was the only food left. The
temperature or weather conditions did not affect how much birdseed was eaten daily.
The only problem I had while doing this research were the squirrels trying to eat the food. I solved this problem by putting vasoline on the bird feeder poles, so they could not climb them.
I feel that it would be interesting to conduct this experiment for one year, to see if seasonal changes affect birds eating habits.
In conclusion I find that mixed birdseed is the favorite of the birds and temperature or weather conditions have no affect on eating habits.
