Volcanoes

Our topic is about volcanoes. We picked volcanoes because we did not know a lot about volcanoes. We also picked volcanoes because we think volcanoes are interesting. The last reason we picked volcanoes is there are many facts to learn about volcanoes.

We tried to answer some questions like, "Would the eruption be different if we used dye or not with dye? We thought of our question because we knew dye could change many things. The question we asked was, "Will lava burst out of a volcano at different heights?"

We did some background information and found out that the magma in a volcano builds up in its chimney and mixes with gas formed from melted rock. This mixture is light and rises to the top. When it reaches the top, it explodes from the cone of the volcano.

First, we did research and highlighted the important information. Next we got the materials to make the volcano. We tested our model volcano to see if our prediction was right.

We learned that a volcano would burst at different heights and that you need baking soda and vinegar. Next time, we would like to see if different materials like water, instead of vinegar or orange soda, might have a different effect on the heights of the lava eruption.
