Growing Plants
Lauren & Rajeanna Third Grade, Bond Mill Elementary
Our topic is about plants. We chose this topic because we like growing plants. Also we like seeing the plants unique sizes, shapes, and colors bloom.
The question we had for our investigation was "Will the plants of different temperature of water have the same results of growth?
Some things we got off the Internet that we learned are the parts of a sunflower. For example, parts of a sunflower are seeds, flower/petals, leaves, stem, and roots. For a fun fact about sunflowers, we learned, the sunflower is from the state of Kansas.
For our procedure what we did is: First, we got two flowerpots and labeled them [c] for cold and [h] for hot so we knew which seed should have the cold or hot water. Next, we put dirt in the flowerpots. Then, we put the seeds in the dirt. Last, we watered the plants with hot and cold water.
At the end the results were clear. The plant that was getting watered with the temperature of cold water was the plant that had grown the fastest. We were amazed because our prediction was right.
Next year, we think we might do something with plants but a little differently. We're going to see what types of liquids will make a plant grow faster. So we had a good time growing plants with each other.
