A Green Lizard and What It Likes To Climb On

By: Jeanette and Genevieve From Grade 3 Bond Mill Elementary

The topic of our investigation was lizards. We chose this topic because we have read things on Green Anoles lizards beforehand and know a lot about them. We also didn't know much about a lizard's life and thought it would be fun to learn more.

Our question was "What natural resources does a Green Anole like best?" We thought of the question because we thought it would be nice to know what to put in a Green Anole's cage for a pet.

Green Anoles are tree lizards that can get up to 8 inches in length. A Green Anole can change color but is not a true chameleon. All anoles will eat small insects and spiders. Anoles prefer to be in trees and shrubs but also can be found on walls and fences.

To complete this project we got the Green Anole and all the other materials. We froze all of our materials because the lady at Petco said that we have to freeze everything we put in the lizards cage. Then we put the rocks on one side of the cage and the sticks on the other side. We put the lizard in the cage and timed how long the lizard stayed on each side. Later, we put the winning results against the twigs. Finally, we repeat step 3 against the vine.

We discovered that the lizard likes the vine and sticks the best. We learned that a Green Anole is a tree lizard.

Students might do the same question with different natural things. We did not have enough time to do more natural things in our project. You could answer, "What food does a Green Anole like best?"
