Bubble Gum Flavor Catie
For K. I. C I wanted to find out which flavor of gum would last the longest with and without blowing bubbles. I tested Cotton Candy, Strawberry, and original bubble gum flavors of Bubble Yum brand gum. My hypothesis was that the cotton candy without bubbles would last the longest because it had the strongest smell. The bubbles would give the air a chance to cause some flavor to come off.
To find out I did this experiment.
First, I got the gum together and made a chart to record the data. Then, I got my family to chew the gum for me at an average rate of 66 chews per minute. First they chewed the original gum without blowing bubbles. They told me when the flavor stopped. I repeated this process for each flavor. Then I did this again but asked my family to blow a bubble every minute.
Next I put the data on the chart. Here is what I found.

The Strawberry with bubbles lasted the longest. This may be because the Strawberry had more flavor. Or maybe the bubbles just made a time when the flavor couldn't come off.
These are some variables-
-How fast the person chewed
-Person's ability to sense flavor
Next year someone might try to find out if gum has certain ingredients that make it last.
