Third Grade, Bond Mill Elementary School

Our topic of investigation is fruit plants. We chose this topic because we like plants a lot, because they help us breathe and they help us live.

Our exact question is "Which fruit plant grows the tallest in two week. We thought of this question by Simon liking strawberries, Michael liking watermelon, and Justin liking apples.

We learned that watermelons are 92% water. We also learned over 1, 200 varieties of watermelon are grown worldwide. Strawberries are thought to have been cultivated in ancient Rome. The strawberry as we know it was originally grown in northern Europe..

This is what we did to answer our question. First, we got our materials together.

Next, we put the soil in the pots. Later, we put the seeds in the soil. Last, we covered the seeds with soil and watered the plants daily.

We learned that the strawberry plant grows the tallest out of apples and watermelons.

We also learned that the watermelon grows the second tallest and apples grow the least tallest.

You might want to try seeing what tree grows the tallest or do our investigation to see if you get the same results we did.
