Attracting Flies
Our names are Rocky and Zach and we are in Mrs. Bucher's 5th grade class at Manchester Elementary School. Our topic is are flies attracted by rotting fruits? We chose this topic because we thought it would be fun and interesting. Our question is what fruits attract flies? We put different fruits in tubes without the lids on. We used an apple, orange, tomato, banana (open), and banana (closed). The reason we had banana closed is because we heard a title in a science book that said " Growing Flies by Rottin' Bananas". So we thought it would be interesting to try and see if they could actually grow.
We got this topic from the book Tank VanCleave's Guide to the Best Science Fair Projects. We didn't use any questions we just made up the questions because they sounded really interesting.
To answer our questions first we set the fruit outside. Next we watched the fruit for 10 days and recorded the results. We transfered our information to some poster board. Then we prepared our selves for KIC.
We do not have any results because our experiment was to long if you would like to record our results at the conference you my do so.
