FERRET FOOD BY SAMANTHA
I chose the topic "Ferret Food" because I wanted to do something no one else in my class was doing. When I saw that only one other person was doing something close to my topic I decided to go with the topic,
I chose the question, "does my Ferret like baby food or wet cat food better?" When I was trying to find a question I wanted one that no one in the class asked. Some people in the class were doing the same question as me, but with different animals.
I found out that a ferrets digestive system takes 3 hours to digest food. A ferret's diet should contain dry cat food and some vitamins. All the nutrients in it keep their coat silky. Ferrets need lots of protection and care. Ferrets are forced to eat a lot of food because the ferrets nutrients are in a certain amount of food. Members of the ferret family are weasels, mink, otters, badgers and the endangered black footed ferret. Baby ferrets are called kits.
To answer the question, I first mixed up the wet cat food with 1/4 cup of Log Cabin syrup and white flour. I also mixed up banana baby food with 1/4 cup of Log Cabin syrup and white flour. Next I observed for three days. After 3 days I removed the bowels and just gave wet cat food and baby food. Finally he was all done. The wet cat food I used was "Friskies Alpo" The flavor was Turkey in gravy. The baby food was banana flavored,
I discovered that ferrets eat more banana baby food mixed with flour and syrup than wet cat food mixed with flour and syrup. But he ate more regular wet cat food than banana baby food.
Some students might try the same thing only using more foods. I wanted to try one other food that was vitamins. You might want to try 6 different foods and make a bar graph to see which one your pet eats.
