Inquiry-based science
experiences invite students to gather and record their own data and to
develop their own ideas based on the data. This session will focus on
how to help elementary students incorporate the data they have
collected from firsthand science investigations into their written work
in order to deepen their science learning. Samples of student science
writing will be examined to consider evidence of science learning. The
presenters are a literacy specialist and a science specialist who are
collaborating with elementary teachers to help them incorporate more of
students' own firsthand evidence into their writing.
